7. Electric Vehicles: The batteries and electric motors of electric vehicles use direct current, and the power grid provides alternating current, so conversion is needed.

 

8. Telecom Equipment: Many telecom base stations and network devices also require DC power to operate, so conversion from AC to DC is necessary.

 

9. Historical Reasons: Early power systems were based on DC, but as the advantages of AC in long-distance transmission were discovered, AC became the mainstream. However, many devices still require DC, so conversion is still necessary.

 

10. Safety Considerations: In some cases, using DC is safer than AC, especially in low-voltage applications.

 

AC to DC conversion is usually achieved through power converters, rectifiers, voltage regulators, and other electronic devices. This process is crucial for the operation of modern power systems and electronic devices.
